The Pontal is Carrapateira's own peninsula. It is a rocky formation that towers 25 meter above the sea and offers f-a-b-u-l-o-u-s views.

On the southern side there are spectacular views of the beach of Amado, and on the horizon, some twenty kilometers away, one sees the lighthouse of Sagres, Europe's last cape.

On the north side, you will want to fly over the wide beach of Bordeira, towards the lighthouse of Cape Sardão, some forty-six kilometers away, whose glow you'll see at night.
